In Print: Magazine usage among affluents is increasing.
Magazine usage by affluent consumers has increased over the last five years, according to a new Mendelsohn Survey. The Study, which surveys households with incomes of $85,000+, showed that the average number of magazine titles read during the measured period increased 37% -- from 6.2 in 2005 to 8.5 in 2009. Households earning $250,000+ read even more -- an average of 26.8 magazines during the measured period. Source: MPA 12/14/09

General Mills plans to increase ad spending in 2010, with a focus on digital advertising. General Mills' overall media spending was up 37% in the most recent quarter, and double-digit increases are planned for the next 12 months. Out of Home: Out of Home outlook for 2010 is promising.
The 2010 outlook for Out-of-Home is positive, thanks to many changes in the sector. As digital signage continues to grow and give advertisers increased flexibility with their messaging, environmentally-conscious platforms, such as wind- and solar-powered formats, will begin to emerge as well. The long-anticipated "Eyes On" data, which allows media buyers to view demographic information for roughly 500,000 of the country's billboards, rolls out in June and will also give out-of-home a boost in the coming year. With economic challenges increasing demand for in-home entertainment, it's no surprise that more than ever, Americans are turning to their TVs.
